Bic Runga whakapapas to Ngāti Kahungunu and Rongomaiwahine. Since the release of her first single, 'Drive', in 1996, Bic has been awarded pretty much every musical honour in New Zealand, including the Music Awards Legacy Award, becoming a member of the NZ Order of Merit, and being inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame. As both a songwriter and a producer, she is on the Board of APRA/AMCOS and the executive committee of the Music Producers Guild New Zealand
