Karyn Rachtman is an entertainment industry entrepreneur best known as an acclaimed music supervisor. Throughout her career, Karyn collaborated with filmmakers such as Baz Luhrmann, Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson and Warren Beatty on some of the most beloved soundtracks of all time culminating in over 75 million album sales.
Aside from her work on classic films like Pulp Fiction, Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet, Clueless and Boogie Nights to name a few, Rachtman has also lent her name as Producer to two award-winning films, Sweet Mickey for President and Archie's Final Project. Alongside her film work, Rachtman is the creator of Hip Kid Hop, a New York Times best-selling line of “read-and-rap-along” children’s books. She has extensive experience in the corporate environments, having served as Vice President of Soundtracks and A&R at Capitol Records and Head of Soundtracks at Interscope.
Karyn has grown her Los Angeles and New Zealand-based company, Mind Your Music, to include consulting, coordination, and licensing services, as well as music supervision in films, TV, video games and ads. This year Mind Your Music received a Silver Pencil for best licensed music in a Kathmandu brand commercial.
Rachtman is also the founder of Aotearoa Syncposium a conference and workshop focused on educating and celebrating the exciting world of applying musical artistry to all screen medias. Over the last two years it has generated over 1.5 million dollars of work for Kiwi artists and composers. Next year she plans on bringing Syncposium to Australia.
Rachtman and her team at Mind Your Music are currently working on three animated musicals, two Spongebob Squarepants films and Smurfs movie starring Rhianna as well as numerous independent feature films and ads.
