The Bowie Family come from Badu, Mabuiag, Pulu and Erub Islands in the Torres Strait. The traditional weaving, they demonstrate is from Erub, and has been passed down for many generations. They use coconut palm leaves to weave items that have both traditional and contemporary uses.
