#Details
Think about the media you consume - consciously or unconsciously - everyday. Could you be guilty of playing into dangerous media cycles? Believing those that have a hunger for influence more than they do a desire to create a change in the media landscape?
Join a stellar panel of thinkers, writers and speakers discussing the power of collective voice in First Nations media who are challenging this rhetoric.
The session will take a deep dive look at the way commercial media spin is informing public opinion, creating a cycle to deliberately outrage, share misinformation, and continue a line of perpetual colonialism, and how this continues to impact the First Nations community.
Panellists will also give their insight and everyday tools for First Nations musicians to highlight their work in the media, while also looking at community controlled media options that give space for self-determination.
